The RHN is not currently hosting events and outings. As a convenience, here are some upcoming activities hosted by local nature groups:

Snowshoes and Snow-Clues @ Claireville Conservation Area
Jan 20 @ 10:00 am – 3:30 pm

Discover the wonders of winter wildlife! Join us to track and identify signs of local animals, and learn some of their secrets for surviving chilly winter temperatures. Try out snowshoeing and leave behind tracks of your own! Snowshoes will be provided. In the event of a snow-free day, join us for a winter walk through the woods.

Choose from two different time slots: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. OR 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This event will take place rain or shine. Please dress for the weather, including layered clothing and winter boots. You will be notified if the hike needs to be cancelled due to extreme weather.

This event is public transit accessible:

  • 5 minute walk from bus stop at The Gore Rd north of Highway 50 (route 50 Brampton Transit).

Discover the wonders of winter wildlife on a guided snowshoe hike! Learn to identify tracks and signs of local animals, and leave behind tracks of your own!

  • Hike Distance: 3 km
  • Difficulty: Easy to Moderate (beginner and seasoned snowshoers welcome)
  • Trail Surface Type: Natural
  • Age Range: Family Friendly (recommended for children ages 5 and up)
  • Meeting Place: Visitor Centre

In the event of a snow-free day, join us for a winter walk through the woods! We’ll identify trees using their bark and buds, and discover tracks and signs of winter wildlife.

Snowshoes will be provided. Parking and washrooms are available at this site. This event will take place rain, snow or shine. Please dress for the weather, including layered clothing and winter boots. You will be notified if the hike needs to be cancelled due to extreme weather.

Discover the wonders of winter wildlife! Enjoy a guided snowshoe hike through the Oak Ridges Corridor Conservation Reserve. Learn to identify tracks and signs of local animals, and leave behind tracks of your own!

  • Hike Distance: 3 km
  • Difficulty: Easy to Moderate (beginner and seasoned snowshoers welcome)
  • Trail Surface Type: Crushed limestone
  • Age Range: Family Friendly (recommended for children ages 5 and up)
  • Meeting Place: Parking lot at Grovewood Park

In the event of a snow-free day, join us for a winter walk through the woods! Learn to identify trees using their bark and buds, and discover wildlife tracks and signs.

Hoot and Howl @ Cold Creek Conservation Area, Education Centre

Join us for a night of fun and adventure! Enjoy a short indoor presentation on owls and coyotes followed by a trip into the woods. Together we will call out to these wild creatures in hopes they will hoot or howl back!

Sugarbush Maple Syrup Festival @ Kortright Centre for Conservation
